Public broadcasting centers to hire 50 professionals for local coverage

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced today that it would fund seven local journalism centers, resulting in the creation of 50 professional positions, mostly for journalists.

“The centers will form teams of multimedia journalists, who will focus on issues of particular relevance to each region; their in-depth reports will be presented regionally and nationally via digital platforms, community engagement programs and radio and television broadcasts,” the CPB said in a release. The CPB administers federal funds for public broadcasting.

Sears and KMart Jobs posted on Twitter

Sears Holding Corp. announced that more than 7,000 job openings at Sears and Kmart will be posted on Twitter. This approach is a way to advertise and market the companies' brands to 18 to 34 year olds, the people who use social networking the most. Sears Holdings said the job tweets will be posted by TweetMyJobs.com which deals with similar postings from McDonalds and Motorola. At this time McDonalds advertises 1,300 jobs on Twitter and Motorola advertises about 300 jobs on Twitter.
